Real Betis are holding out for Johnny Cardozo to join Wolves after the Midlands club tried to sign him.

Real Betis made moves in the January transfer window, bringing in Antony on loan from Manchester United and bringing in Juan Cucho Hernandez from Columbus Crew, while also sending Assan Diao and Rui Silva to Como and Sporting Lisbon respectively.
Meanwhile, Wolves are trying to sign Cardozo before the window closes, but Real Betis have rejected an €18m offer from the Midlands Wolves, with the 23-year-old midfielder also uninterested in a move.
Cardoso has also expressed his intention to commit his future to Real Betis for the long term by signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Betis until the summer of 2030.
Cardoso has been a very good pickup for Betis, and he has proven that since his move from Internacional in January 2024. Los Verdiblancos will be very happy to retain his services for the remainder of the season. Although they will be aware that preparations will probably need to be made for his departure – when that time comes, a new defensive midfielder is almost certainly be sought.
Wolves may not have been successful in their pursuit of Cardoso. But a move to the Premier League does seem on the cards for the American international. However, he will not be thinking about that now. With his full focus being on having a successful second half of the season with Betis.
